John Goodman Ready to Be 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close'« FirstShowing.net

John Goodman / Book

We'll next see him in Kevin Smith's peculiar, but whollyinteresting looking horror filmRed State(which we'll be checking out at theSundance Film Festivallater this month), but notJohn Goodmanhas a new project lined up.THRreportsThe Big Lebowskistar will join Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock in the adaptation ofJonathan Safran Foer's novelExtremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Stephen Daldry is directing the film which tells the story of Oskar, a 10-year old boy (to be portrayed by unknown child actor Thomas Horn) who loses his father (Hanks) in the 9/11 attacks and goes on a cathartic journey to deal with his loss.

The boy takes a journey across New York, looking for information relating to the lock-box key box left behind by his father and meets an assortment of people along the way who are each dealing with their own forms of grief and loss not entirely different from his own. Goodman's role is that of a doorman in Oskar's apartment building who goes on a trip to exhume the father's coffin. Surely plenty more high profile cast members should be announced soon with Stephen Daldry (The Reader) directing from a script by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) and this project is bound to be quite an awards contender down the road.Interested?
